President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday announced the rollout of a scholarship program for college students under the “Bawat Barangay Makikinabang” initiative, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to invest in education and prepare the youth as future leaders of the nation.
Through the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF), each barangay is allocated PhP200,000, with half of the amount — PhP100,000 — dedicated to supporting five Presidential Scholars per barangay. Each scholar will receive PhP20,000 in educational assistance, ensuring that young Filipinos have access to quality education and training.
“So, bawat barangay, makakatulong tayo ng limang scholar…With approximately 42,000 barangays in the Philippines, lampas-lampas na ng 200,000 ang magiging presidential scholar,” President Marcos said in his message during the rollout event at the General Trias Sports Park, Barangay Santiago, General Trias City in Cavite.
The President emphasized the lasting value of education, urging Filipinos to study diligently, as it is a form of wealth that cannot be taken away.
The scholarship program is designed to empower barangays to directly support their youth, fostering academic excellence and leadership development at the community level.
By investing in education, the administration envisions a generation of well-prepared Filipinos ready to take on the responsibility of nation-building.
| PND
