CARMONA CITY, Cavite (PIA) — By providing specialized facilities and services catering to Persons With Disabilities (PWD), the City of Carmona’s KALINGYAKAP Integrated Shelter, Support and Services for Persons With Disabilities earned recognition from the 2026 United Nations Public Service Awards (UNPSA).
The KALINGYAKAP Integrated Shelter, which opened to the public last February, is part of the city government’s support to PWDs. The two-storey facility, which includes facilities such as classrooms, administrative office, shower rooms, comfort rooms, dormitory rooms, infirmary, consultation room, and many others aim, provides key services for PWDs under one roof.
The KALINGYAKAP Integrated Center was chosen among 700 nominations from around the world under the “Delivering Inclusive and Equitable Services to Leave No One Behind” category.
Mayor Dahlia Loyola, in a statement, noted the recognition as a milestone in they city’s bid towards innovation, good governance, and people-centric public service.
“Isang mahalagang kasaysayan at milestone ito ng ating progresibong lungsod na sumasailalim sa ating dedikasyon tungo sa innovation, good governance, at peeople-centric public service.”
Loyola also recognized the Office of the Persons with Disability Affairs Officer for its responsive programs which have been key to the city’s bid towards inclusivity.
“Taos-pusong pagbati sa Office of the Persons with Disability Affairs Officer para sa walang sawa nilang pagsulong ng mga programa tungo sa mas inklusibong komunidad para sa mga PWDs.”
As one of the winning initiatives, Carmona’s Kalingyakap Center was also recognized for integrating information and communication initiatives, artificial intelligence and digital governance.
The UN Public Service Awards gives recognition to ground-breaking initiatives from 62 countries that advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
This year, the award-giving body recognized initiatives that responded to multiple challenges and enhancing the capabilities of public administrations while advancing the SDGs.
