CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PIA) — Adhering to the agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to improve the country’s educational system, the Department of Education (DepEd) in Calabarzon expressed its readiness to provide laptop sets and lapel microphones to public school teachers in the region.
During his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Marcos affirmed that his administration will continue to make education programs one of its top priorities, with the goal of providing quality education to learners and helping them become more productive.
“Edukasyon pa rin ang siyang pangunahing nagtataguyod ng kakayahan, kung kaya ito pa rin ang nangunguna sa listahan ng Administrasyon. Sinisimulan natin ito mula sa pagkamusmos. At ito ay dapat tuloy-tuloy, at hindi tumitigil. Kaya dapat nakakintal sa puso’t isipan ng mga Pilipino ang lifelong learning at continuous self-improvement,” President Marcos Jr. said.
To attain this goal, the Chief Executive extended his full support to DepEd in providing the necessary equipment that can help teachers deliver more effective instruction.
“To facilitate effective instruction, we also continue to provide them with helpful and innovative teaching aids, such as Smart TVs, laptops, tablets, free mobile data, and even lapel microphones,” he added.
Carlito Rocafort, Regional Director of DepEd Calabarzon, said the agency has procured more than 108,000 lapel microphones for all teaching personnel. Currently, division offices are assessing the delivered units to ensure their functionality.
“Halos lahat ng mga teachers po dito na nagtuturo ay mabibigyan, then ang na-deliver na po as of now ay 104,084; ito po ay na-deliver na sa ating iba’t ibang cities and provinces. Ito lamang po ay ongoing ang inspection ng ating mga division offices kapag okay na po ay ipapamigay na ito sa ating mga guro,”
Rocafort added that providing teachers with lapel microphones can help protect their health, as the devices reduce the effort needed to speak loudly while teaching in classrooms.
Meanwhile, the laptop sets to be provided to teachers, which he described as a necessity in teaching today, are currently being delivered and undergoing procurement through the DepEd Central Office.
“Ongoing na po ‘yung delivery, then kapag nainspeksyon na po iyan ay ipapamigay na po iyan sa ating mga guro. Malaking bagay po ito kasi ang dinadaing talaga ng ating mga guro is sila mismo ang bumibili ng mga ganitong equipment na ginagamit nila mismo sa kanilang pagtuturo,” Rocafort stated.
In a social media post, Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara thanked the President for his concern for teachers and for providing support for their welfare. Under the Office of the President Social Fund, 879,533 teachers will receive lapel microphones to help them teach more effectively.
“Hindi na kailangang pilitin ang kanilang boses sa araw-araw na pagtuturo. Isang simpleng kagamitan ito na may malaking ambag sa kalusugan at kapakanan ng ating mga guro, para mas makapagpokus sila sa pinakamahalagang misyon: ang paghubog sa kinabukasan ng bawat batang Pilipino,” Angara said.
DepEd Calabarzon assured teachers and the public that it will thoroughly inspect each procured material to verify whether the equipment meets the agency’s specifications and is at par with the current trends and needs of teachers.
“Sinisigurado po ng ating mga IT officers at ‘yung mga may know-how sa laptop and lapels na standard and based sa specification ng DepEd ang mga nai-deliver para hindi na maulit ‘yung mga mababagal dati at may mga depektibong laptop na napupunta sa ating mga guro,” Rocafort explained.
He added that the delivery process takes time because the agency checks the equipment and returns units found to be defective.
“Ngayon po, ang quality at saka ‘yung specification nila ay ‘yun ang sinusunod at tinitingnan natin bago ipamigay sa ating mga teachers,” the director ensured.
The Education department, under the guidance of President Marcos Jr., assured teachers that it will continue to recognize their diligence and genuine concern for their students by providing the necessary equipment and support. These efforts aim to enable young Filipinos to continue dreaming, hoping, and pursuing a better future, it added. (CH/PIA-Laguna)
